GROMS
Newport Plus Groms is currently an under 16’s surfing competition designed to maximise fun for the junior kids. We have 5 year olds up to 12 year olds and all different skill levels paddling out. We are focused on getting the kids out in the water, learning about the ocean and the basic skills you need to compete in surfing. Being a community organisation it's a great way to meet other local families and have your kids meet other like minded groms to start their own surfing journey.
We are here for fun so if your grom feels more comfortable with you next to them helping them onto the waves that’s great too, plus there are always lots of mums and dads in and around the water to help make the kids feel safe.
We try and run them with the adults each month but if the surf is a little big then we run them the following week or alternatively if its perfect for the groms but not the adults then we generally run them.
Newport Plus has a proud surfing history and we would like to continue this tradition with a strong Grom team of local boys and girls.
